1. In the app — the fastest way
If you still have Husssle installed, you can delete everything yourself in about fifteen seconds. Nobody has to approve it and you do not have to write to us.
- Open Husssle and sign in if you are signed out.
- Tap Profile in the bottom bar.
- Scroll to the bottom of your profile and tap Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom of Settings and tap Delete my account.
- Read the warning, then tap Delete everything to confirm.
Just taking a break? Use Sign out instead, one row above. Your rating, your finished jobs and your level stay safe and are waiting when you come back. Deletion cannot be undone and your record cannot be restored — you would start again at New.
2. By email — if you no longer have the app
Uninstalled it, lost the phone, or changed device? Email us and we will delete the account for you.
Send to
Exact subject line
Delete my account — please use exactly these three words, so the request is routed straight to deletion rather than into general support.
Include in the message
1. The phone number you signed up with, in full, with the country code — for example +254 7XX XXX XXX. This is the only way we can find your account, because Husssle has no email logins.
2. The name on your profile, as it appears there.
3. This sentence: “I want my Husssle account and all my data permanently deleted.”
What happens next
We reply to confirm we have the request. To make sure it is really you — otherwise anyone could delete anyone’s account — we send a one-time code by SMS to that number and ask you to send it back. If the number is dead and you cannot receive the code, tell us and we will verify another way, such as details of your last job that only you would know.
Or use this form
3. What gets deleted
All of the following is erased from our live systems, and from backups as they cycle out:
- Your account and login — your phone number and your authentication record, including the permission any past customer or worker had to see your number. You can no longer sign in with that number, and it is not kept on any list.
- Your profile — your name, your area, your skills, your bio, your average rating, your finished-jobs count and your level.
- Your photos — every image you ever uploaded, erased from the storage it sits in (Cloudflare R2, see the Privacy Policy). Not hidden, not unlinked: the files themselves are removed.
- Your applications — every application you made to another person’s job.
- The text of every review you wrote, and your name on it.
- Your identity on every job you posted or did — your name is replaced with “Deleted user”, your rating is stripped, and the photo is removed.
Be clear about what this does not do. We would rather tell you now than have you discover it later:
- Job posts are anonymised, not erased. The title, description, price and area of a hustle stay in our records, with your name removed, so that the other person still has proof of what was agreed and so that a dispute or a fraud pattern can still be investigated. What is gone is the link between that post and you as a named person.
- Reviews other people wrote about you are not deleted. This is the one people are most often surprised by, so plainly: the stars and the words another person wrote about your work stay in our database. What goes is the link to you. Your profile is gone, so there is no page for them to appear on; nobody can search them, open them, or see who they were about. All that is left inside them is the random account identifier that used to be your account.
We keep them for one reason. The app makes each side review the other before either can take on new work, and the review itself is the record that a person did their part. Erase it and the record says they never wrote it — so the one thing standing between an innocent person and being locked out of applying for work would have been deleted by someone else’s decision to leave. It is their proof, not ours to destroy. - Reports you filed are kept for 24 months, with the account identifier that filed them and what you wrote. A safety report that the reporter can delete on demand is not a safety report.
- An internal account identifier survives in those anonymised job, review and report records. It is a random string, not your name and not your number, and there is nothing left in our systems to connect it back to you — but we are not going to claim it is not there.
There is no undo. We cannot restore an account after deletion, and a new account with the same number starts from zero at level New.
4. What is kept, and why
We keep as little as we can. These things survive your deletion. None of them shows your name, your number or your face, and none of them can be opened as a profile:
Reviews other people wrote about you
The stars and the text stay; the connection to you does not. Your profile is deleted, so they are not shown anywhere and cannot be searched, and the only trace of you inside them is a random account identifier. We keep them because a review is the proof that the person who wrote it did what the app required of them — erasing it would say they never did, and could lock them out of applying for work. One honest limit: another person wrote that text in their own words, so if they typed your name into it, that is their sentence and it stays as written. Kept for as long as the job record it belongs to.
Anonymised counts
A finished job stays counted in our totals — the public “hustles completed in Nairobi” number, and internal counts by area and category. These are plain numbers with no link to you, your name or your phone. Removing them would falsify a public statistic about work that genuinely happened. Kept indefinitely.
Star scores you gave other people, as unattributed numbers
The text of every review you wrote is deleted, and so is your name on it. The bare star score stays inside the other person’s average, with nothing linking it to you. If it did not, anyone could erase the record another person spent months earning simply by deleting their own account — and someone acting in bad faith could use that deliberately. Kept as part of that person’s rating.
The job posts themselves, with your name taken off
Title, description, price, area and status stay; “posted by” becomes Deleted user and the photo is gone. The other side of a hustle is a real person who may still need to show what was agreed, and a job record that vanishes the moment one party deletes their account is exactly what someone running a scam would exploit. 24 months after the job completes.
Reports, and the account identifier that filed them
If you reported somebody, that report stays — with what you wrote and the identifier of the account that sent it, never your name shown to the person reported. Otherwise anyone could file a false report and erase it by deleting their account. 24 months.
An internal account identifier
A random string that used to point at your account remains inside those anonymised job, review and report rows. It is not your name, your number or anything you typed, and once your account is gone there is nothing left that maps it back to you. We list it here because it is technically still a pseudonymous identifier and we would rather say so than let you find out. For as long as the record it sits in.
Records we are required to keep
Where Kenyan law obliges us to retain something, we keep exactly that and no more, for exactly as long as the law says. As the law specifies.
5. How long it takes
- Immediately. Your profile and your open jobs disappear from the app. Nobody can find you, apply to your posts, or see your number.
- Within 30 days. Deletion is completed across all live systems, and any deleted data has cycled out of our encrypted backups.
- If you asked by email, the 30 days runs from the moment we verify the request is yours — normally the same day you send the code back.
We will email you to confirm when it is done.
6. Before you delete
- Finish or cancel any job in progress. If someone is expecting you tomorrow, or is waiting for you to pay, tell them first — deleting your account does not cancel what you agreed with a person, and it leaves them with no way to reach you.
- Money is between you and them. Husssle never held your payment, so there is nothing here for us to refund or release. Settle anything outstanding before you go.
- Your record does not come back. Rating, reviews, finished jobs and level are gone for good.
- Want a copy first? Email support@husssle.app with the subject Send me my data and a person will compile everything we hold about you and send it as a JSON file within 30 days, before you delete. There is no automatic export button in the app; this is done by hand.
7. More
What we collect in the first place, and every right you have over it, is set out in our Privacy Policy. If any of this is unclear, or your deletion has not happened when we said it would, write to support@husssle.app — a person reads that address.
